FS: Lextreme Single Turbo Header system for 1st Gen LS400, T4
Iv got here a single turbo header system that I was going to use on my own car before it was totaled. These headers are made from mild steel and were designed for use in a 1st gen LS400. This was the second header set David Phan made after he made the system that is currently in his LS400.
The flanges of the header were laser cut and are 3/8” thick. The primary tubes off that are 1.5” and they lead into a 3” collector tube. That intern leads to a T4 Turbo flange and there is also a 1.5 inch tube for the waste gate. There is no waste gate flange welded to these pipes, you will need to have yours welded on. The cross over pipe is 2.25” in the center section and the ends are 3”. At each end there are laser cut flanges that bolt up just like the stock catalytic converters.
How this system works
You first have the driver side replacement exhaust manifold. This replaces your old manifold completely. Then to keep things simple, you have a cross over pipe that simply bolts to the end of the OEM passenger side manifold. Here are a few pix of David’s setup to better show how all this goes together………
Cross over pipe under car
Driver side leading to turbo

O2 sensor bung is welded in and ready to go
T4 flange and WG tube
After they are coated they will look like this..........
Note the header im selling is a slightly different style then the one on lextreme's car
These pipes have been bead blasted to give them a clean finish. The pipes need to be ported and coated in a high-temp coating to keep heat at bay. There is also only some minor detail grinding that could be done if you so wish. Any exhaust shop could do this while welding on the WG flange or porting the pipes. Some people say that mild steel is not that best material to make headers from. David’s car has been running for many months with no exhaust manifold issues. On top of that, a system like this made in stainless would cost double the price. This is a great opportunity to get some serious performance out of your 1UZFE for a manageable price. You will still need to put together the rest of the system but these headers are the key to the whole single turbo setup. Price stands currently at $500. Please post or PM me if you are seriously interested or want to make and offer. Thanks!
PS: Headers will NOT work on SC400, they WILL work on LS400 with out sacrificing the AC compressor!

Hardly looks like $600.00 worth of effort?
Just kidding, that is amazing!!! Sorry to hear about the demise of your LS.
May think about further mods to use as just plain headers on a 1UZFE.

Now see that this is a pretty Turbo specific system, but amazing work all the same. Great Pics!!

Thanks for the kind words damon
If you want to try and run headers with an NA or SC setup, you might want to look into tundra headers. They wont drop in but you may beable to cut them and get them to fit in an LS. At least the header flang would be done and that part would bolt up. Id say its worth the money to at least give it a shot.

For those who dont think the motor can take over 8 PSI, and that they are not going to see a big HP gains with all the work of a turbo, check out lextreme's Dyno chart, 509 torque, at only 12 psi
Dyno Condition:
Date: 04-26-2005
Gear: 4th
Wheel Diameter: 614.7mm
Drive Ratio: 3.47
Tran C Factor: 1.2
Car Wts: 4200 lbs
Dyno Results:
Max Torque: 509.4
Max HP: 389.4
Max psi: 12.42 psi
Comments: Good Run, Extreme Rich

The SC has a tighter compartment, and you might run into steering shaft problems but im not 100% sure. Simply, these were made for the LS. Not the SC. They could always be modded to fit in an SC, it would just take a little more fabrication. TT V8 SCs are out there so it is possible.

Yes, it could fit right into a GS however, again it was made for the LS400 so I can not guarantee that you will not have to do minor fabrication, but I don’t think you would have much trouble putting it in a GS400
