LS460 side mirror removal - changing puddle lights to LED
Does anyone know how to remove the side mirrors to access the puddle lights underneath. I ordered some white HID Led replacement bulbs but not sure how to remove the side mirror.
Thanks in advance for your help.

One thing to note about LEDs vs. Filaments is that the LEDs will just cut on and off, you will loose a lot of the fading In and Out that you get with a filament.
You will notice that for the interior bulbs, Lexus put in a very nice touch where they fade out after you exit the vehicle. The LEDs will fade to a point and then just cut off. For the puddle lamps I would think that gradually fading in and out would be more desirable than just making the light whiter and brighter, but YMMV. Just something to consider before taking the door apart to get the mirror off :-)

went through the mirror manual and the lighting manual. Nothing in lighting, so it may be integrated. There is no mention of replacing it. You may be able to just pop the mirror out and look inside. Here is the page for that. If the lighting is behind the motors, then yes you may have to take the door apart, as you would need to take the wiring etc through the stem so the motor can come out, but a quick look may answer our Q. I dont have my LS today or I would have done that already.

geez, I really don't want to go through all that. Just worried it will make the mirror glass loose and all that. I still wonder if a little flathead screwdriver would do the job..but doesn't look that way..thanks for posting.

i have not looked at the underside of mine, it would be worth checking, there is no reference to the bulb that I can find, it may be in there, but very well hidden... the manual set is about 800 pages x 6 volumes and laid out by a monkey.

Its very easy to do.
I did this swap on two sets of mirrors on my 04 430 and the lights are the same on the 460. I will do it this week and post pics up when i'm done.
