Vibration @ 75-80 MPH
Has anybody experienced a steering vibration coming right around 75 to 80 MPH? I have balanced my wheels 3 times to rule out that being the issue. Also the tires are in great shape. At speeds below or above it rolls smooth. Any suggestions?

when you say balance is this a road force balance with a printout and is this aftermarket wheels or oem, on my oems I am smooth at a 100 plus. meaning that something is wrong and balance would be the culprit no matter how much you balance them take it to somewhere different or what I normally do if I am having problems take the weights off so that you know for sure that they are balancing them instead of just checking.

I just experience that with my stock wheels. I had 22" on for almost a year now and this past weekend decide to use my stock wheels for a road trip and between 75-80 especially when slowing down and accelerating, I get that vibration. My stock wheels are not balance b/c I did not think I would ever use them again and plus they don't have the tire pressure sensor since I told them off for used in my 22". I do think it is a balancing issue too.

The story of my life with my damn LS. I love this car but it has been two years of vibrations. I have had the car in the shop for more than 45 days total trying to get this vibration resolved. Mine is the same thing where it vibrates for about 5 seconds decreases for about 3 seconds then come back. It oscillates and it cycles over about a 4-5 week period. It will start and get progressively worse over a month then disappear for a few days and returns. I have had multiple shop foremans and multiple Lexus field tech specialists and they cant figure it out. They just replaced my drive shaft and it has done nothing. They said they think its my tire because when they spin you can see side to side motion of the tread bars, BUT why is it still shaking with my stocks. Im telling you right now, dont listen to the tire BS. The cars have an issue. I am not the only one. If you do a google search doe LS460 vibration you will see what I mean. I also know of at least 3 other in the LS forum who have had the same issue. They have checked wheel hubs, bearing, driveline, wheels, replaced 22's. replaced 22' tires, replaced oem wheels, and oem tires. They have evaluated the axles, brakes, steering rack........... If I could I would sell my LS and get something else but it looks like I will need to hold on to this car for a while. Its so frustrating ( sorry about the rant). How the hell can a Lexus dealership tell you that they cant figure it out. I am going to take it in one more time with the oem wheels to let this different tech look at the car. I have a feeling we are screwed. I wouldnt say that if I havent been trying to work this out for 20 months now. I know we have the same issue because it both do that weird mystery vibration where it oscillates. That means its not the wheels imho, but the tech said that if the two rear tires are defective they will oscillate out of pattern and then temporarily fall into equal oscillation and out again. God help us both!!!
What tires are you running on the Vossens. I am running Pirelli P zeros and had the same issue with the continentals but the tech at the wheel shop even showed me the tread moving side to side with the contis as well. I am thinking to try Michelins next time and drop the 2k. If not I will try the Nitto INVO. I had vibrations with my G35 and GS with every tire I used other than Michelin PS AS+ and Nitto INVO.
I have read these reports with cars that are 2007 to 2010. One person who posted a complaint on the web stated that it started from the first day

After controls arms, brake actuator, new tires, new rotors, and new brake pads, the daamn vibration is still there!! Now there is a noise when braking from high speeds (front driver side). Break in procedures, etc were all followed properly. Only happens some of the times. Sort of a growling noise? Could that be the bearing going out?
BTW, my car gets serviced at the local dealership (keep it anonymous for now). After replacing the upper arm I had a clunking noise happening over bumps. Took it back to to dealer and they did not notice the noise. Picked up the car and noticed the noised is still there immediately. Being frustrated I decided to take matter into my own hand. See anything wrong in the picture?

I would definitely go with "didnt bother to look"..... I sent the picture to the service advisor on Wednesday, and since he has spoken to the service manager. I am waiting to hear back from them early this week. Very disappointed to say at least!!

I was one of the owners who had this vibration issues from day one on my 07 LS460L. After 2 years of frustration and lack of time to constantly deal with our locall dealershiip (less then stellar service), I dumped the car moved on to other manufacturers. FYI - It was my 3rd LS and at that time had 4 other Lexus products in my driveway. Then nether the dealer nor Lexus corp gave a damn about my problems. LOL now the same Lexus dealership

For what it is worth...
I experienced seemingly-incurable vibrations (among other issues) on my 2008 LS460 L from the moment I received it (I purchased it used out-of-state). There were steering vibrations (vibration of the whole column AND shimmy) and also body vibrations - all intermittent, to boot. Many tires, wheels and tire/wheel assemblies were tried, together with numerous balancings, to no avail. In addition to these vibrations, there were also numerous clunks and squeaks coming from the front suspension.
I will spare you the details and share the essentials, though I am happy to share further details if they would help you. I've posted some highlights of my experience and at one point was in communication via PM with another member with similar issues. Lexus came through for me in an impressive manner: they stood behind the product, and my car is fixed. The process took about 9 months from beginning to end (with all the troubleshooting, etc.). Elapsed time from the moment the field rep (FTS) became involved was about 4 to 5 months.
The FTS was top notch as are the shop foreman and diagnostic specialist at my dealership; they all epitomize what Lexus claims to be all about. Without the foreman's and DS's determination to get to the bottom of my car's issues, listening carefully to everything as I described it, going on road test after road test, and even reading the multi-page log I had created that captured the problems and conditions under which I drove (speed, temperature, cold/flat-spotted tires, etc.), I would have been out of luck.
Some highlights on suspension noises and steering vibrations...
Control arms were the culprit behind the noises. Note that there is now a TSIB calling for replacement of some control arms, though not all. All the work on my car was done before this TSIB was issued.
The bushings in my upper control arms were toast, and these parts (2 on each side) had been redesigned. Lower control arms were also replaced, though those have not been redesigned as I understand it. Lastly, as the noises persisted the only remaining set of control arms (trailing arms) was inspected, and lo and behold, the bushings were shot. I believe that these have also been redesigned by Lexus, though I do not believe they are part of the aforementioned TSIB.
After the visit where the first round of control arm replacements was completed (and before the replacement of the trailing arms), the shimmy, while better, persisted. Body vibrations were gone after the driveline vibration TSIB was performed AND the driveshaft (whose angle was out-of-spec from the factory!) was replaced.
On a second drive, the FTS and diagnostic specialist heard a noise that they immediately traced to the steering rack, which Lexus has had some issues with on this car. Others have posted on this. The steering rack was replaced, and much to my surprise, the shimmy appeared to be gone. However, that feeling only lasted a couple of weeks, at which point I brought the car back because the steering felt a bit "bouncy" again.
There were more steps here, but I'll go straight to the punch line: one of my originally-good tires now had road force variation of almost 30 pounds, so after fixing all other problem areas, we came back full circle! This was checked on a hunch by the DSPM (District Service and Parts Manager), who coincided with my car at the dealership and took it for a spin. In light of this finding, he was kind enough to have Lexus comp the tire given the history. This was the end of the story (again, with many intermediate steps and details spared to keep under control what's already a tome!). My wheel bearings (pretty much the only component that is not new in the front suspension) are fine, though I understand they have failed prematurely for some.

I also had a nightmare case. Took me about 19 months to sort it all out. I had a bad driveshaft, 2 bad aftermarket wheels, and 2 bad Pirellis. Right now the car rides perfectly with the stock wheels and tires but the Pirellis I have are defective. Im going Michelin next time even if I have to drop 2K for tires

As for my brakes, they replaced the brake actuator, but now I am getting a roaring noise when braking from for speeds of 55 and up. Due to my frustration I went ahead and replaced the rotors + ceramic brake pads. It still has the same noise. The noised started after the actuator was replaced, but I don't see how that is related. Is there something I am overlooking? At first, I was thinking it must be the bearing, but then it is only happening when I am braking. Unless braking is putting stress on the bearings which is causing the noise? Also, today I noticed there was a clicking noise I heard again, but it was from the rear this time.
I honestly was not looking forward to all this nonsense, but thank God I decided to get the extended warranty when making the purchase. I have 3K left to get everything situated, but I do not have another vehicle to rack up the miles on.
I haven't heard back from my service advisor in regards to the nut. I will give them a couple of days so they can work on getting their story straight. Thanks again for your time.

An element of the "Abnormal Driveline Drone/Vibration Between 55-65 MP" TSIB requires removal of the headliner to stiffen the satellite antenna mounting bracket. Indexing of the drive shaft is also part of that TSIB. Did your car get the antenna bracket modification too?

They addressed the driveshaft angle issue (which again, much to my surprise was way off from the factory) and then performed the indexing as the bulletin calls for. This improved but did not eliminate the vibration that was felt in the rear seat. A new driveshaft was ordered, and that resolved the issue.
