Crank but wont start

Crank but wont start
I have a 2002 Lx 470, Ive changed all the spark plugs, and a couple of the ignition coils, the engine light is on but I cant find a low price scan tool to see what the code are, I may have to spend $100+ for a scanner that will work, any suggestions for a fix or a scanner?
