Default E-Brake worn out?

I was wondering how much the E-brake should be pulled before it clamps down on the wheels?
I have to pull mine almost all the way for it to even engage at all. I pull it so far back that it takes some effort to release it.
Is this normal or are they worn out?

Thanks,
Robert

Robert,

My 99 is the same....and that way from about 40k. I would think an adjustment would do. I adjusted mine at the rear diff...the other way was to take off the wheels and rotors and adjust. The next time I have the rear wheels off I will have a look.
