Have any of u guys experienced a clunking. This is when the vehicle is on a stop position and then u feel something, like u got rear ended???? I was just wondering because the lx and gx have the same engine and maybe underneather parts so i would greatly appreciate any replies.

thanx

Never had that problem.
Only thing I can think of is the transmission kicking in and jolting the car a bit.

other gx owners say that it is the drive shaft that is doing the clunk. since the gx has it, i thought maybe the lx might have it.

I have owned both a GX & a LX. LX has no clunking, my old GX did have clunking.

Does this happen after you stop at a red light or something?
I was driving the other day and noticed a small bump sometimes when I stop.

RX900, I did not have the GX fixed. Truth be told I did not have a problem until the dealership fixed a recall problem with the rear suspension.

I have had no problems with the LX470.

It maybe the same thing. it happens when ur at a stop light and when u release the brakes, u get a clunk, meaning that u feel like u just got rear ended.

After driving and trying to notice it, I have noticed that my LX does that sometimes.
I would be interested in knowing what causes this since I am on a quest to make my LX like new again (after almost 2 years of abuse from my parents)

I can speak for the 450s. The driveline clunk is considered "normal".

Sounds like a typical Land Rover Discovery Series II. This was considered normal. But on LX 470s, that's a new one.

Last time I had my LX in, I had this problem. They disconnected and lubricated the driveshaft connection to the rear differential. This took care of the clunking sensation, but I just took it back in with the same problem six months later. Seems like the lube fix doesn't last very long.

Hmmm this is new to me, I'll have to stay on the watch for this one but for now no clunking.

When I changed my oil, I also greased up the drive shaft connections. Now the clunking is less common and lighter.

I definitely had the "clunk" in my LX you are talking about. It may be normal, but it seems very un-Lexus.
