Default Propeller Shaft Maintenance

Hi Gang,

How would one retorque and lube the propeller shaft? I'm not sure if my dealer did it
so I'll have my mechanic do it.

Thanks.

Not sure about retorquing but I can help ya out with lubing it up. You'll need a grease gun. There are 3 grease fittings on each propeller shaft. One on the shaft itself, and the other's are on the spider joint thing. You can do this without a jack or lift, but you'll have to move the car back and forward until you get it aligned for access. The grease gun's head will fit and kind of snap onto the grease fitting. For the spiders, just keep pumping grease into it until you hear a pop and see clean grease come out of the sides of the spider bearings. For the shaft, I hear you just pump grease until it comes out the other end of the shaft (a lot of grease is needed). The procedure for both shafts are the same, you'll just have to take off the under engine covers to get to everything for the front propeller.

Here is a diagram of the shafts. Hope this helps ya! (^_^)

Ha!

I just found the torque needed for the nuts that hold the shaft to the diffs and transfer.
Here they are:
Front propeller shaft: 80Nm (820kgf*cm, 59ft*lbf)
Rear propeller shaft: 106Nm (1,080kgf*cm, 78ft*lbf)

Enjoy! (^_^)
