Do you use regular or premium? What year is your LX470? What percent highway/city driving? I'm just trying to see how good these big guys do with the fuel.

I regularly get 14mpg with a mix of city and highway.

I get 13-14 mpg city, and 16 mpg on long trips. I use 89 or 91 octane gas.

My mileage may actually be better, because the tires I use actually causes my speedometer to read slightly fewer miles than actually traveled.

16-17 city (averaged in Houston downtown and burbs peak traffic over 5 months)
16-17 highway (2000mi roundtrip I-10, I-85, I-26) no effect oddly
9-12mpg when towing 4000+ lbs of additional weight.(1000mi TX to SC)

Other usage info:
Secondary O2 sensor needs replacing but hasn't effected mileage or engine smoothness any.

Always run premium - newer 4.7L owners should be very appreciative of this improvement in engine management.

33" tires run on all mileage totals above, no corrections applied to them. Strictly trip meter / gallons used.

I have no idea why my mileage doesn't fluctuate between city and highway. I have measured it over and over but the pig just drinks the same amount no matter what. I do consider myself lightfooted on the gas pedal which may help some. For some reason I just drive smoother in that vehicle than my others. My Tacoma only gets 20-22mpg with its v-6 and far less weight but I scoot around in comparison to when I'm behind the wheel of the LX.

RX900 I figured your GX would smoke the LX in mileage numbers. What is the weight of a GX in comparison?

I am being tempted by the hybrid RX for my wife. I want to see a GX or LX with hybrid tech though!

With 33" tires you are getting better than 16-17 mpg since your speedo has not been corrected. That is great mpg. I get 17 mpg combo with a 2004 4runner AWD V8 5 speed auto. Your LX has to weigh close to 1000 lbs more than my 4runner and you have a 4 speed versus my 5 speed. That is great mpg.

I get about 18 mpg highway driving at 70 mph max, and a little under 17 driving at 80 mph on the interstates. When the car was new it got about 15.5 mpg driving 80 mph on the interstates. It now has over 5000 miles. Premium gas. These mileages are according to the trip computer.

rcf8000,

Thanks for the post. I just got mine Thursday and the mileage has been a little disappointing. Hopefully, when it gets broken in, it will improve somewhat. Take care.

Bought my LX used so I can't speak to breaking in of the 4.7L but my Tacoma was initially 18mpg and is now firmly 20-22mpg. Maybe you'll get a little increase.

Is your new LX's MPG better, the same, or worse than your old LX's?

My new LX is much worse than my old LX. I was getting 18-19 on the highway with my 2000LX. I'm getting 13-14 with my new one on the highway. It will hopefully get better with time and use. Take care.
