I am not trying to be a jerk but you guys are all going the wrong way with this. the 2003-up lx470 has a frame integrated hitch from the factory. They all come with it now and it comes out of the bumber as the picture shows. Trust me on this i am very well versed in the lx470. The bumper may still be a little misaligned but the hitch is fine. The pictures are hard to properly diagnose the bumper issue i would have to inspect it in person to be sure but i do not believe anything is wrong with it and i have have seen hundereds of lx470 and many of them are the newer style(03-05).

I completely agree. There is nothing wrong with that bumper.

not to continue an argument but i disagree i have never seen a hitch attached as shown in that picture all are the usual way below the bumper; yes they are attached to the frame but all look like this one

If it was a LX 450...I could tell you exactly what was or wasn't wrong with that bumper...

but y'all are talking about the 470. Not really my forte.
That said, I have seen 470s with both integrated hitches and aftermarket (lower hanging hitches).

...and that's all I have to say about that...

You're wrong. All '03-up have integrated trailer hitch. The rear bumper has a cutout that allows you to attach ball to the integrated hitch. This hitch can only tow 5000 lbs, as opposed to 6500 with the old-fashioin hitch (as in your picture). Just look at a brochure of a recent LX...the tow limit has dropped to 5000 lbs.

tigmd99,

You're right!!! I just got a new 2005 last month and that's the way the hitch should look. However, there is definitely something suspicious about the space between the bumper that the rear quarter panels. Mine does not look anything like that. It looks to me like someone overloaded the tongue weight and bent the rear bumper down. It would be peculiar for a Lexus to have that big of a space there, (which mine doesn't have) but even more odd for a Lexus to have a space that is larger toward the back of the truck than it is toward the front, like on this LX. The hitch is correct and not the issue, the space between the bumper and the body is a problem. I'd demand an inspection of the truck by a Lexus mechanic before purchase. Take care.

There is no space. It's just a shadow.

The rear view photos from semandell and Rx900 show that there is definitely more space between the bumper and the rear quarter panels where the bumper curves from the side to the back of the car. It's definitely NOT a shadow. It's definitely not right. Mine is flush, just like in Rx900's photo. I'd stay away from that LX.

I drew a line at what is the bottom edge of the tailgate. I also drew a circle around the plug for the spare tire crank. Compare that with my prior picture of my Land Cruiser (I'll post it again) and the LX looks fine to me.

Whatever. That's not the place where I'm saying there's a difference, it was a comparison mainly of Rx900's rear quarter view vs. the LX in question from the side. I can also see it from the back as well, and it has nothing to do with the spare tire crank plug. It's along the sides of the bumper, not at the back. It doesn't matter. I still think there has been an accident or something else in the past of that vehicle.
