differential oil chnage

The oil shold have been changed at the 60,000 mile service at you dealership. It is very easy to change though if this is not the case. You will need a 1/2 inch impact wrench and about 9 quarts of 80w lube. Use the impact to remove the large drain bolt on the bottom of the differential and drain it into an oil pan. The replace the bolt and remove the top bolt and fill with fluif until it starts to come out. Replace the top bolt and you're done. Repeat on front differential and center.

I HIGHLY recommend removing the FILL screw/bolt first.
Sometimes the fill screw can be extremely stubborn to loosen. If you drain first and find that you can not get the fill screw loose, you'll be in deep shyte !!!
Fill it until it's just below the fill hole -- yes, use your finger to check the depth.
Just my $0.02 worth...

The guys are correct about the fill screw first. I did not do it but i have the tools to get anything lose so i normally don't think like that. As i recall the rear takes 5 quarts and the front takes 3. I would buy 11 or so to do all of them and have a little extra on hand. The M1 will be fine.

You can buy a case but they really are not that expensive at all. The M1 is a little high but regular valvoline is just fine and is cheaper. You only need to do the oil change every 30k

soneone just told me that i should..................
"ask the lexus dealer if mobile 1 75w-90 is appropriate for your lexus. The front diff is built into the transmission, and if you have an automatic, you will need an automatic transmission fluid. The center diff is a viscous coupling differential, and I don't think that mobil 1 75w-90 is appropriate for that. Also if your rear differential is clutchpack based, helicoil, locker, etc (basically any differential other then a torsen or an open diff) then mobil 1 75w-90 may not be appropriate for it either. "

someone is confused about the LX470.
Front Diff is seperate to Auto box and the Center Diff lock is mechanical not fluid.
Diff Oil is SAE 80-90 Hypoid Gear Oil to API GL5
Transfer Oil is Gear Oil API GL4 or GL5 to SAE 75-90
Auto Oil is ATF Type T -IV (use genuine Toyota Oil only) as the mixing with other compliant is not a good idea and the cost diff are minor. If you are doing a complete drain, removing the oil pan etc then you can use alternatives.
If still in doubt phone your Lexus Dealer or Lexus themselves and double check after giving them your Chassis/Model/Frame number.
