Just read the news that GX470 is getting the Improved 270hp/330 tq for 2005.
The Tundra, Seqouia, and 4Runner already have the 4.7vvt-i also.
Now I would have thought the mosy pricy Lexus would be the first to get this engine but on the www.lexus.com it still states the 235hp engine for 2005. Any insights?

I think this will be a carryover year for the LC/LX and there will be a redesign in 2006.
With that said, I don't understand why they couldn't drop in the new engine.
I know that the LX/LC have a different AWD setup than the Sequoia/Tundra models. Could it be that the drivetrain of the LC/LX may not be equipped yet to handle the increased HP/torque?

No, they care more about reliability and resale value apparently. The LX will most certainly be continued and this won't be its last year. If they want power, they should buy a Touareg V10. If you want quiet, smooth, reliable transportation with decent power and low depreciation, then the LX is the SUV of choice. Range Rover sales are in the toilet and even though it is a nice Ford, it's still a Ford.

the increase in power is due to the variable valve timing and it does not help much with torque so the big ones did not get it (lx or land cr) as for next year the lx goes to the sequoia platform. the lx and land cr are costing toyota to much to bring to the us so they are gonna start building the lx in the us. I have seen that toyota pays over 10K per vehicle in tariffs on them.
