Default Removing and Installing Emblems

hi

i have just purchased a lexus gold emblem package and would appreciate any instructions on removing the chrome emblems (hopefully without damaging them) and then installing the gold emblems.

while a search on cl revealed many results, i didnt come across anything specific to the lx.

any one?

The best thing is slight heat (a hair dryer or heat gun on low) and then the dental floss saw method. This is where you use a piece of dental floss to get behind the emblem and slowly work your way through the adhesive. Then use some 3M adhesive remover to get all the residue off and clean the area for the new emblems. The emblems do have aligning pegs on them so becarful not to break them off during removal. I would look at the new emblems to locate where the pegs are of the back of the old ones. Good Luck!!!

I used 15lb test fishing line and it worked well. Followed by some "Goo-Gone" adhesive remover.

Thanks for the advice!
I'll work on it this weekend.

I also wanted to have some suggestions. My LX color is called riverrock mica, i think (its dark green with grey cladding). I have already chromed the front grill. Do you guys think the gold package would look good on this color? It looks great, at least to me, on a black LX. I just havent ever seen the gold emblem on dark green. Any opinions?

I'm not at all a fan of gold emblems...
I used to think they looked cool back when they first came out. But now that so many vehicles have them, I think they look a little tacky. But that's just my opinion and my tastes -- everyone's different.

That said...
Gold on emerald green shouldn't look bad -- I don't think you'd have a problem with the gold on the chromed grill...it might make the "L" stand out some.

I second the use of fishing line rather than dental floss. Dental floss simply is not strong enough. Do heat up the adhesive with a hair dryer first to soften it up.

Save the old emblems in case you change your mind later.
