07 Lexus LX550 - Official but not???
I found this power point from an automotive organizion. Based in Michigan (where im sure there is much insight) they seem to think that the Sequoia will be redone in 06 and Lexus' new LX550 will be based off such - AND built in the US. Check it out - page 5 of the ppt. - http://www.oesa.org/pdf/presentation...esentation.pdf. JJ.

Actualy the slide makes a lot of sense. why does toyota need to have TWO road going soccer mom full sized SUVs (Sequoia and Land Cruiser) that undeniably overlap. Seems like with the intro of this new plant in TX - they are getting a new Sequoia, a new Lexus LX based off the Sequoia and a "RETRO" Land Cruiser - w/ what I'm sure will be superb off road capaibilities.

Re: VX/LC/SQ
It does make sense, but no way Toyota gets rid of the Land Cruiser brand name (I think the presentation referred to an X-Runner) - way too much brand equity. I could see the LC going retro much like the Mercedes Jeep thing and the Land Rover Defender. Just too much overlap with the current LC and Sequoia to justify continuing both models. Very interesting find.

agreed - now the question is - do you think that lex will offer their own knock off of this so called "retro" Land Cruiser. My take is that Lexus has no history to look back to - so it might not make sense for them to build a retro car [b/c theres no model for them to hawk back to]. in that case - pricing of these new models??? obviously the Sequoia will be cheapest - i guess its a possibility that the new LX and the new LC will be around the same levels (keeping in mind that both will offer totally different experiences where LX is super luxury and LC is super sporty / capable). Hopefully the people@ toyota/lex are listening. JJ.
