Night Vision Option
#2
Hey ultrasonic...
I have the nightvision option in my 2004 LX. If you're asking about the technicalities about its operation, I really can't help you with that. In terms of its functionality, it's simply an image that is projected within a square on your windshield towards the lower portion of the driver's side. Whether or not it's "worth it"...I would have to say probably not. As I recall, it is a fairly expensive option (don't remember the exact amount but it was over 2 grand). It's certainly a very cool option to have for the "wow" factor, but most of us aren't used to driving cars with this option, so it takes a bit of time to acclimate yourself to it. Some may find it outright distracting.

Repair is very expensive.
Also keep in mind ... that it has a special windshield designed to reflect the image from the night vision camera. If you get a crack or big chip in the windshield ..you will have to pay big money to get it repaired. (Also you will need to buy the windshield from the Lexus Dealership).

I have the night vision option and I think it's worth it. I live in a rural community in the foothills of the rockies. There are lots of deer and elk around at night, and I have spotted some with the night vision. It is annoying in the city with heavy traffic, but it is defeatable, so I just turn it off. By the way, I have already cracked my windshield. $1,300+ for a new one. It's a Lexus. Of course it's expensive to fix, but IMO worth it!!!!
