'04+ LX470 owners - Cell phone advice needed
Which phones work best with the Bluetooth system in the LX? I'm contemplating getting a new phone and I'd like to leverage the technology. Since my Land Cruiser shares the same setup, I thought I would get some real world experience from you guys.
I currently have AT&T/Cingular service, but might be willing to switch if the deal is right.
Thanks in advance.

Hey Gohawks. I own a 2004 LX. I had the Motorola v600 when I was with AT&T/Cingular, and it worked flawlessly. I switched back over to Verizon Wireless and purchased the Motorola V710 and it doesn't work so great. You will not be able to transfer your phone book data, which means in the Lexus that you cannot make any calls while driving (unless from the phone directly). Good luck with your choice.

What's interesting is that the Toyota site above does not list the v600. I wonder if that's an implicit admission that the phone is not fully compatable.
I ended up getting the v550 with Cingular. Is the phone book problem exclusive to the 710? I assume so since you said the 551 worked flawlessly.

I'm not sure if the phone book issue is unique to the v710 or not. The only other Bluetooth phone I used was the v600 when I was with AT&T. I do know that Verizon was slapped with a major class-action suit for disabling many of the Bluetooth features in the v710. Verizon Wireless reached an agreement to come out with a firmware update for the v710 but that did not correct the data transfer for the phone book, and I don't suspect that issue will ever be resolved.

But when you said the 551 worked flawlessly, did that include the phone book?

The v600 worked perfectly, and yes, that included the transferring of the phone book data.

I have the Motorola v505 with AT&T/Cingular and it works great. Only thing is, that the phone will not work with bluetooth while it is being charged with the power cord. Anyone else have this issue?? Once I unplug the charger, all is well and the system works flawlessly. I was suprised by the range of the Bluetooth!!! On a clear flat area like a parking lot, it reaches out quite a distance.
