Default Replacing your LX?

With my 2001 LX470 coming up this year on 5 years old, I'm starting to look around at possible alternatives when it comes time to replace it within the next 18-24 months. So far my very short list would be:

Lexus next-gen LX/JX/?
Range Rover Sport
Hummer H3

The size of the LX is perfect for me/us - I think the others I listed are approximately the same class. Bigger like the Sequoia, Hummer H2, Infiniti QX56 etc. is too big. There's something I don't like about the look of the GX. Tahoes, Expeditions, Explorers, Pathfinders, etc. seem a little too common.

Anyone else thinking along the same lines or have any comments about the options?

Please no flames about getting rid of a perfectly good vehicle - I know the LX can last much longer, but in my car buying cycles this is already the longest I've had any one car.

I would stick with Lexus, possibly the next generation JX/VX? My second choice would be the Range Rover Sport. I've always like Range Rovers, but they've had poor resale values, so you won't get much back when you trade again. You could go with the new Infiniti QX56, but I don't really like them. Escalades seem too common. Stick with Lexus, apparently they are having an all-new redesigned LX model coming out in possibly late 06 as an 07 model. Just my opinions...

You may want to consider:

Cayenne Turbo
The next-gen M-B G-Class
The next-gen BMW X5
The new Audi full-size SUV (Cayenne/Touareg-based but bigger and quattro 4wd)

Not much else I would want out side of the LX maybe the new one when it comes out.
XC90 is it too small..
RX330 is it too small..
New Rang Rover.. is the one I'd buy if it starts to have issues get another one, or you can just lease it so you wont be stuck trying to sell it later.

Wait for the next VX/LX. The 'Car Chat' forum briefly mentioned the LX600h - the possible hybrid version of the next LX/VX. Everything else you have mentioned can't match the reliability of your LX. Range Rover and Hummer both have horrible repair history. I know the H3 is new. But Hummer as a brand doesn't hold its value and has quality issues.

H3??? It's not even in the same class as what you mentioned.

Range Rover
Benz's new R-Class
Cayenne

There shouldn't be a question. My wife and I researched all of them and the 2006 LX470 VVTI with the updated front and rear is the only answer. We are in line. The Porsche and the Toureg were a let down, especially for Porsche. H3, no comment.
