hello people just joined this forum I had my LX 470 about four months now I love my car reason I bought it consumer report gave a good rating on the liability customer satisfaction and depreciation value . I have over 16,000 miles since I bought it . just wondering does anybody have it serviced at the dealership . I taken into two times , and I'm just wondering if I can take it to an independent mechanic shop for service. And the other thing did anyone get off a good discount off the sticker price . the most I can do the $1700 financing wasn't the best was 6.9 . they just wont go down, . And I'm kinda of scared about not buying extended guaranty. About two weeks ago , we went to the LandRover dealership . she was really interested in thr Range Rover I think it's a piece of crap my wife thinks I'm so negative . anyway , looking to 2005 is the BMW still makes the motor for it on 2006 Jaguar a.k.a. Ford motor Co. makes the motor no it
kinda scary . the model is H. S. E and I got to discount $5,500 , off the sticker price . anybody out there with the Range Rover ples let me know how the liability is what

range rover has gotten better, but reliability is awful. my sister had a range rover 4.6hse, the engine block had to be replaced after many trips to dealer and it was always leaking some kind of fluid. it was in the shop for over a month, and she threatened to invoke lemon law, but they paid two lease pymts instead and gave her a Disco to use in the meantime. either way, the thing was a piece of junk, she was glad to see it go at lease end. newer ones might be better, but they will never compare to a Lexus' reliability - period.

Both the LX470 and Range Rover are great on Hollywood Blvd. and off the beaten path. The glaring difference is in the reliability. The LX470 has been extremely reliable, while the Range Rover is on the other end of the spectrum - one of the most troublesome models according to Consumer Reports owner survey. In terms of styling, interior amenity, and prestige, I must say Range Rover has my vote. Its rock bottom reliability will steer me to the Lexus dealership everytime.
Yes, you can bring it to an independent shop for service without voiding your warranty. Just make sure that the shop is equipped to service Toyota/Lexus and you trust the mechanics. Otherwise you can bring it to Toyota for routine service to save some money. I bring my RX300 to a local Toyota for oil change. Though the waiting room is spartan, I must say that I'm completely satisfied with the work.

Unfortunately, even with the new model, the air suspension on the RR is still problematic and will leave you stranded, especially while off-roading. The same applies to VW Touareg.
Strangely, the electronic shock on the LX is seemingly quite reliable.
