2 Din Dvd Player Surround Frame
Hi
I have installed 2 DIN size DVD Player in the front console in place of the factory Nakamichi stereo. There is supposedly a plastic frame that needs to be installed to cover the gaps surrounding the DVD Player. Anyone knows where or how to get this?
Thanks

I'm curious about what you've installed so far. Were you able to incorporate the Nak amp, and if so, did you use a special wiring harness? I've been trying to find something to replace the factory Nak head unit in a 2000 LX but with no luck. I had an Eclipse unit that wouldn't work with the Nak amp.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I've got a AVT unit that has the large screen (looks like the navigation screen). I was very keen to keep the Nak amplifier but could not find the harness & was told it would run about $50. The technician offered to sell me a Sony amplifier for around $70 to replace the Nak amplifier & I went for it. So far, the sound is pretty good & perhaps even a bit clearer than the factory sound system. I just need a frame that goes around the AVT unit screen to fill the gaps. Happy with it so far. It even came with 2 remotes. It has 6.5" screen compared to the Eclipse 5.x" screen for 60% of the price of Eclipse. Will try & post a pic for you.

O3LX470,
Did you also install a rear camera?
I also have a NAK system. Currently looking to upgrade the system with a head unit that can display DVD plus rear camera.
Did you upgrade the speaker too? I am thinking of upgrading the speaker that can fit with the original housing. The subwoofer at the back is too weak for me.
Maybe I have to replace the amplifier too.
Thanks,

SSSC430,
If you can find the right harness, you can keep your NAK amplifier. This is how it works....lets say you just 1) get the DVD player & nothing else, they can only connect 4 speakers & sound quality would not be that great 2) get the DVD player & harness, they can connect the NAK amplifier to all your speakers & you get the same, good NAK quality 3) get the DVD player and aftermarket amplifier, they can connect all speaker & sound quality would be good too. I would prefer option 2) but did not find the harness so I went with option 3).
I did not get the Camera. I've already got parking sensors so a) camera is not necessary and 2) they only had cameras they could install in the rear bumper but i wanted something that can be installed in the tail gate just above the number plate.
I am using the factory speaker & happy with the quality so far.
If you install the DVD player or do some research on it & come across the ring/frame I mentioned in my original email, can you please inform me about it as well. I urgently need the frame to fill the gaps around the DVD player & so far do not have any leads on who can sell me one. I think the audio/video shops that do the install would carry them but Im not located in the US & do not have access these shops.
I would highly appreciate any information on the frame. In the absence of the frame, I am risking dust getting inside through the gaps.
Thanks

03lx470,
Please post a picture of your DVD head unit to show the frame you need.
if I come accross a frame that can fit, I will let you know.
Where are you located?
Can the frame be custom made?
