Default Looking to buy 2000 Lx470

I am supposed to meet with a private seller who is selling a 2000 LX470 w/63,000 miles. Any advice on what I should be looking for besides the usual things? Thanks for the help.

Default Have it inspect.

If I were you, I will take it to a shop, not only Lexus but other independent shops as well, to let them inspect the car, specially any body work ever, they usually charge 1 hour labor ($80-120). You may already known the common issues, such as stater, suspension, side mirror & etc. I read it from another LC site, that the tranny on 2000 may has problem as well. Get an extended warranty, I did a few reseach on it, coverage & price have hugh different form companies to others, unless you can DIY.

Good Luck!

I went to go see a 2000 LX470 w/ 62,000 miles. It was at a Lexus dealership but was not certified.

When I took it for a test drive, I noticed it had the same amount of rattling noise as my 2001 Toyota Sequoia if not more. The suspension was also not much different than the Sequoia. The dealer later mentioned that the Lexus needed to get the suspension redone and he would like it if I would come back after a few days and give it another test drive with the new suspension. I told him I woud give it try.

I was really looking forward to this because its hard to find a black or charcoal gray LX470. Anyone think its a good idea to get a LX470 with a redone suspension?

As long as Lexus will replace them with OEM parts for free, and give you warranty (Should be at least 1 year with unlimited mileage), then yes, I would buy the vehicle, it costs more than y $1k to do it. Again, it seems to be a common issue with suspension at around 65K-70K mileage. Go to http://forum.ih8mud.com and click 100series, that is another popular site for LC/LX. If the dealer is going to take your hard earned money, make sure the LX is perfect before you say "Yes"

I have the common issues like the third row seats rattle, but generally happy with the LX. Have a professional inspect it(I did) and get the peace of mind. Don't trust the stealership. They'll tell you what you want to hear to sell the car.
