Default '99 LX 470 nakamichi replacement

My Nakamichi stereo went down. Actually, I bought it and the previous owner had stuck a CD-RW or DVD in the CD player. Lexus can't get it out. Tape deck also does not work.

Anyway, it's cheaper to go to an aftermarket more up-to-date stereo system that will accept things like MP3, CD-RW, etc.

Does anyone know what systems are compatible with the '99 LX 470? I think there might be an Alpine system.

Are you looking to replace just the indash unit? Or will you be replacing the speakers also?

I'm also very interested, but more so in the trim surrounding the nak unit. it's not a standard double din opening. so i'm wondering if there is a factory trim kit or if i'll have to have one made.

You will have to have some one make it. That is what I did and it looks good.

I have a Kenwood Double Din Indash DVD/Nav system in my 00 LX. When my nacki changer got stuck the first time i warrantyed it. the next one did the same thing a year later so i dropped some cash down and put in something alot better. Alot of people think it came stock. If you would like some more pictures PM me.

BTW i just have a plastic trim peice made to fill in the gap. But I think im going to redo it with something wilder.

it actually doesnt curve up because i was too lazy to glue it down to the wood trim peice. Its just a sheet of plastic cut to the propper size to fit in the cutout of the wood trim and up against the radio. Im actually looking foward to having my local audio shop do a custom, leather wrapped curved trim peice for my radio, i just can never part with my baby long enough to let him do it.

I have a 2000 LX470 with a Nakimichi system. I want to use the factory amp, which a local installer said they had successfully done. Did you do this? How did you integrate the new head unit?
Thanks!
