Default HID's in an LX470?

My wife and I are seriously considering an 06 LX470 and it's certainly not a deal killer but our other cars have HID headlights and we almost feel like we can't live without them. Hell, I even retro fitted some onto my otherwise stock 98 NSX.

Has anyone been sucessful in installing HID's in their LX? If so, please share your results.

Thanks.

Default Hid Issue

Yes . Its very easy and You just CANT drive without HIDs once you get used to them

here is the spec

The LOW BEAM HID is a H1 type.

The Hi Beam HID is 9005 type (not recommended)

The Fog lights are H3.

I recommend you getting the 4500k or 6500 super white for the LOW beam and FOG and leave the HI stock. Contact Steve at www.xenondepot.com

Is HID not standard on an '06 LX470 ? That'll be very surprising tho'

It is not. Both the GX and LX continue to not offer HID lamps even as an option in the US.

Thanks for the responses guys.

It was explained to me once that because of the height of the LX, HIDs would be too bright and blind the guy driving the puny sedan in front of you.

Don't know how true that is, but it does make sense.

You must install it yourself or have a shop do it for you. There is a whole thread in the GX forum about this. Its actually quite easy. Also- take a look at xenondepot's website under testimonials for a section on the GX. I'd be willing to bet its fairly similar.

there are many features the lx does not have which are common now in lux vehicles cool seats is my biggest miss it is in the new gs and ls but not the lx anyway i am not to happy with my 06 my 99 got smashed and i was unhappy with the repair so i traded it in. you do know these are made in a different plant in japan now and quality control sucks at 3k miles the sun roof rattles the passenger mirror does not tilt back up after reverse and the biggest thing which was scarry at first my oil press guage does not move. i would go with an 05 and save a ton of cash if i could go back now but thats life.

Yes, this is disappointing, especially since competing models offer the HID option.

I plan to install/retro fit HID to mine for the LOW beam and the FOG lights. I am placing my order with XenonDepot and looking to have this put on by the new year. As someone rightly mentioned, once you have HID in one car, you cannot live without it in another. My '99 LS came with HID, imagine a 2006 LX470 w/out HID just plainly sucks, IMO.. C'mon Lexus, do the right thing and stop jerking people around.

Default Exhaust Tip

Just put on a 3" Billet chrome exhaust tip installed on the LX. Looking real good. Next to come is the rear spoiler...

Bluestar,

Those HID's look great! How much were the parts and the shop's labor to do the install?

Is it as simple a changing the bulbs?

This site is awesome!
