Hi,

I'm going to be installing an Alpine Navigation unit in my vehicle and was wondering where I might be able to find the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor).

I've done searches but most everything I've found is for all other vehicles besides the LX450.

And if anyone has done this install, a suggestion on where to tap the reverse light would also be appreciated.

These instructions are for the installation of a Truspeed vehicle speedometer calibrator, but it taps into the same VSS that you're looking for.

Hopefully you find it helpful.

You should be able to tap into the tail light sensor where the trailer harness resides. It's in the passenger side cargo area behind the plastic panel. There might be another place to tap into, but the one in the cargo area is the only one I'm familiar with.

If you have more technical questions, I'd suggest checking the www.IH8MUD.com 80 series tech forum. You might find it a bit more active than this forum.

Tapped into the VSS at the Cruise Control module near the footbrake (Pin #20)

I grabbed the reverse signal from the reverse light.

So far it seems to work pretty well. Now I just need the most recent smart map software since the one i have is from '00.
