I am in the market for a new '06 or possibly a used '03-'05. Anyone else having quality control issues with their 2006 LX/LC? I saw a few comments (sunroof rattles, oil guage, etc.) and it has me concerned about the current LC/LX especially since it is being manufactured in a different plant. Any input would be appreciated.

 

IMO, of the Gen-3 LX production, the best is the 2004 model. It also has many features on the '06 except a couple things - LPS and vvt-i 275hp motor. Otherwise, it is an excellent model. Highly rated by CR and others. You can pick one up for the low $40s.... I bought an '03, but would have bought an '04 if I found one at my price range at the time I needed one.

 

Picked up our '06 LX in October (now 1,900 miles) and have encountered none of the problems mentioned in this forum. The only minor gripe is a squeaky seat between the partitions in the 2nd row, leather rubbing - but that's it. Good luck.

 

I've only got 500 miles on mine since Novemebr and no complaints. I'll be taking a long road trip in it next week so then we'll start to get some mileage on it.

 

One thing to keep in mind while you view forums like these is that you don't see posts from folks saying things like "I've owned my LX for 6 months now and I haven't had one single problem". That's the nature of the beast. Moreover, many only search out forums like this when they have problems.

I'm not for a second discounting the threads that you reference or the posters who placed those threads because nothing sucks more than having a new car with problems but I think statistically speaking those experiences have to be viewed with some skepticisim.

Our family is on our 7th Lexus. We've never had anything other than very minor issue and cumualtively we've got nearly a million miles on these cars. In our experience, Toyota/Lexus builds great, high quality and reliable vehicles.

 

I have a 2004 LX470. Never had a problem.
