Thumbs up 2 Questions

I have a 1999 Lx 470 with 22 inch Momo Storms, and J-spec clear corners. My questions are I have a RSES (rear seat entertainment system) from a 2003. Can this be installed in my 99? The second question is has anyone installed the Borla exhaust system in thier LX? I am considering it, but not if is too loud. After all it is a Lexus! Any info would be very helpful.

1) I doubt it. The '03+ has the integrated nav system. How is the '03's rear entertainment controlled? The nav is a completely different generation, meaning different ECU's, I think. You might be able to retrofit a '03 into a '02, though.

2) I've never seen an aftermarket "performance" brand exhaust that wasn't noisy. Depending to whom you ask, some people might say such and such muffler isn't noisy. I added a aftermarket (LCE engineering) 2 1/4" muffler/catback/header to my old 4runner 4-cyl. The salesman on the phone said it "wasn't noisy," that it had a nice, "smooth" sound. Well, the thing is so noisy I had to strip the complete interior of the vehicle and line it with asphalt-coated aluminum roofing material. That made a huge difference, enough so that one can hear the header now and can hear the a/d/s-soundstream audio (still can't hear any subtle notes in the music at all, unless at idle, difficult to hear people talking in the car). But still, way noisier than my '01 honda, which is much quieter than my LX. I can already imagine what it would sound like in my LX...obnoxiously noisy. I would not recommend any aftermarket muffler/exhaust unless they list noise levels in decibels in the specs at different rpms (normal talking is 70db, pain threshold is about 105-110 db).

Default ive got a borla

Welcome to Club Lexus! Glad to see a LX owner joining up, there are so few on here.

Ive got a BORLA Cat-Back Exhaust system on my LX, part number 14814.

Now, the "loud" part from my "1loudLX" comes from my intake, my exhaust actually isnt as loud as i was hoping. It has a nice mellow tuned tune to it and it has a slighting increased interior noise but if I had a stock intake still my truck wouldnt be "Loud". I felt a slight performance increase with it also but mainly i like the purr at about 1100-1800 RPM. Idle is sexier too. It is basicly exactly the same setup as a stock exhaust just i guess with a freer flowing muffler(s).

now as Jim_Chow has so said NOT to put an aftermarket exhaust on i will have to rebut him and say, if you wished your LX sounded like it had more ballz then your neighbors LC/LX then yeah, it will and it will sound sexy. Plus since your so far away from me here NY i will recommend you get the exhaust system since you wont cramp my style. However just be ready to wait a few weeks since it is a special order.
