Default first major road trip in the LX...got great fuel economy

Just finished the first major road trip in my LX. Here's the log w/ conditions:

--Tucson, AZ->Lordsburg, NM: 149 miles, 18.3 mpg (interstate driving)
--Lordsburg, NM-> Socorro, NM, via Silver City (half highway, half mountain driving w/ some 10mph switchbacks, climb over a pass), 215 mi, 18.7mpg.
--Socorro, NM->between Espanola & Taos (mostly uphill, tailwind), 178 mi, 20.9mpg.
--Mountain driving between Taos & Angel Fire (9100 ft pass), 116 mi, 16.86 mpg.
--Mountain driving (9800 ft Bobcat pass) plus highway Espanola, 367 mi, 20.37 mpg.
--Espanola, NM->Truth or Consequences, NM, 246 mi, 19.02 mpg (interstate, headwind).
--TorC, NM->Tucson, AZ: interstate, 309 mi, 19.45 mpg.

Total distance: 1580 mi, 81.86 gal of gas (19.30 mpg)

Notes: I used only chevron 91, stock-sized Bridgestone HT's at 32 psi cold pressure at 8500 ft where most of the driving was done). Interstate driving was mostly on cruise control set to 69mph, 2200-2300 rpms. Vehicle was fully loaded but all stock, 3rd row seats removed, changed oil to M1 Delvac 5w40 before the trip (this has given me 10% better economy over Mobil 1 10w30 or normal dino oil in my 4runner and honda in the past).

BTW, I tried out the xenondepot HID headlights driving back from the fireworks show in Eagle Nest, NM (at 8500 ft in the Sangre de Christo mountains). The lights are super-bright, easily the brighest ones out there. The peripheral vision is excellent (can see if there are any animals in the shoulder ready to jump onto the road). Definitely worth the money.

So the xenons were rebased? Also, did you ever find out about the noise, or did you just decide it was normal operation?

And was it this?
- H1 4300k XenonDepot HID Conversion Kit (XD-4k-H1)

Sounds like a great roadtrip to put it thru the paces.

I didn't bother trying to listen to the whiny noise again. I took 1LoudLX's word that it was normal and disappears after warmup. They do take like 20 sec to brighten to full intensity. Yes, that is the kit, and they are re-based bulbs (one reason why they cost more than non-rebased D2S/D2R xenon bulbs).

How much are the Xenondepot kit? Its it only bulbs or is the housing, bulbs, etc. included in the kit?

Yes, the site is xenondepot.com. BTW, I tried the DENSO Koito ballast with the xenondepot kit bulbs and this combination changed the noise pitch to the better and it lasted only for no longer than 5 seconds. The ballast was from the RX with the modified connector. The XD bulbs fully lit up when the noise almost vanishes; however, the noise never goes away completely.

I wonder if the noise is the ballast surging to bring them to full intensity. Thread hijack
