I have a 2004 LX. I got the insert that goes into the factory installed tow hitch (behind the bumper cover). But I don't like the way it looks when it's on the bumper. It draws attention to itself since it sits smack in the middle of the bumper. I guess my options are to leave it like this or keep it off and just put it on when I need it.
That seems unreasonable to me.
Does anyone else use this? Do you leave it on? Or do people remove the factory installed hitch and just put a new one on that goes under the bumper?

If you are talking about the hitch insert with the ball attached to it, that gets removed when not in use. Some people leave them in their vehicles, but I have always just pulled the hitch pin and removed the inserted portion when I am done towing.

I do not mean the ball insert. I know you use that when you actually want to tow something. I am just referring to the insert that goes into the hitch receiver. (What the ball insert connects to.) It is attached to the hitch with 4 bolts. But once that's on, you cannot put the bumper cover back on to hide the opening.
This is what I wouldn't want to take on and off because it requires inserting and removing 4 bolts each time.

Yes, I know that's what you're referring to. I guess it depends on how often you tow. If often enough, you might consider getting a dedicated towbar underneath. That's what mine came with. In fact, I just got this 120 lb+ Australian all-steel aftermarket tow bumper (minus accessories pictured) last week, having it painted to match my vehicle, getting it installed tomorrow:

Kevin,
Where did you buy your hitch bracket? I've been looking for one and even the dealerships don't sell them.

Kevin,
All I found was the Tow Hitch Assembly Kit for $782. Is this what you paid? I was just looking for the adapter with the 4 bolts that attaches to the factory installed hitch behind the bumper.
Thanks in advance for your input

What you want is exactly what I got from them. You won't find it on the website. Give them a call or send an email and describe what you need. They'lll know what it is.
