Default Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement for 2003 LX470? I have a pretty serious soundsystem and remote start/alarm.

Optima? Energizer? I don't know which one to go with so was hoping that you guys would help me out!

Thanks,

LL

Take a look at this:

Can't remember who makes the Odysseys, but I was planning to side-by-side two PC 1200's since I've got a lot of A/V equipment & plans for more.

Have to custom fab a battery tray, but I believe they'll fit. Or you can go w/ one big one.

If the Optima Red Top 34/78 fit in my smaller RX300, I think it should fit in your LX470.

The Odysseys are also great lightweight batteries.

I have seen two PC1200's fit side-by-side in a LX, but as you say, the tray was custom. I wish someone made an aftermarket one for the LX. I'd probably go w/ the pc1700. You'll probably have to shim it to get the height correct. I'm not sure if Odyssey makes a base for it. I got a shimming base for my 4runner w/ Optima.

TW, here in AZ, most batteries last 1.5 yrs. My Optima blue top (used mostly as a starter battery in my 4runner) lasted 3 summers, OEM made-in-Japan honda battery (Yuasa) lasted 3 summers, OEM LX battery (Panasonic) is on its 4th summer already, still going strong. So the Optima lasted no longer than a quality Japanese battery. When it's time, I plan to get the Odyssey pc1700 for the LX unless someone starts making a custom tray for dual pc1200's.

Got one. Thanks guys.

PS- Don't try the Optima Yellow Top. Doesn't fit correctly (positive&Negative are on wrong side)

That is true...I had to stretch the cables in the case of a similar size Red Top in order to make it fit.

the battery in my lx lasted from december first 99 when it was made till early september of 05. the only reason it died I found out was while I was on vacation my strobe power supply had a drain on it for three weeks. icould have just recharged it and gotten a few more months out of it but with winter coming I didn't want it to not start one cold winter day after school.

I ended up just getting another lexus batery which seems to hold up to my strobes/hids/JL Audio-Kenwood sound system.

for anybody that has a custom battery setup in their LX, can you post a picture for me?
