Help!! problem with radio on my 2000 LX470
Hi Guys,
New to forum so I hope am not breaking any rules. If so, please advise.
I just started having a problem with my radio. The sound pops on then off,
on then off... Nothing else seems to be affected. All lights for the radio come
on and stay on as usual. The sound just pops on then off. The crazy thing is
the radio works fine if you turn the ignition switch to the first click. It starts
to pop on and off only after I start the car. Local Lexus shop doesn't know
exactly what the problem is. They don't think its the ignition swith or radio
amplifier. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it? Any
advise would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Club Lexus. I never had that problem with my radio only it keeping my CDs from me. Ied suggest you do a search and see if anyone in the past has had that problem. Again welcome to Club Lexus.

I had a similar problem in my 4runner w/ an aftermarket amp/head unit after relocating the amp & CD changer. The sound would sometimes shut off, or sometimes the volume was weak, drove me nuts! It turned out that upon reinstalling the front seat, one of the speaker wires accidentally got pinched and crushed between the seat mount and floor, effectively short circuiting one of the speakers some of the time. I'd suspect some kind of short (maybe insulation rubbed off to bare wire) or grounding problem (not easy to find...I had to strip the seats and carpeting out to find the culprit).
