I think they are $$$. Didn't someone a while back post that his dealer wanted like $400 to replace one light? If that's the case, I'd like them burn out. :-)

Default success!

Hi All. First post here...

I was able to do this yesterday. I replaced my burnt running board/puddle lights
on an 02 lx470. Guess what kind of bulbs are needed for this replacement?

We only need 4 bulbs (2 per side)- that's it! (one per corner)

The bulb that we need is an 891 bulb from a car parts store - a good thing.
It is a regular bulb afterall. I'm searching for an LED type replacement part
but so far nothing came up. Let me know if you see one so we don't have to replace
these ever with LED. I'm pretty sure they will be a lot brighter with LED.
Now I have all lights working again and cost me 4 X $7.95 plus tax.

I had to go through the same thing last year. The dealership here in Vancouver didn't know what I needed and quoted me for the actual fiber optics strip which is really expensive. The parts diagram doesn't show the 4 light bulbs which are the only bulbs needed as the previous member stated. Anyway, an easy and inexpensive job once figured out.

hi. will try to take some when i install the led counterpart.
i'm currently sourcing which version to use. do you think i should go
with warm white or cool white in the running board? i think warm white is brighter, isn't it?
or cool white is better at night? I just want a brighter output. the truck is pearl white.

thanks

I think I remember getting access in the wheel wells towards the ends of the running boards. There is an access plate there that needs to be removed. I'll take a look next time I use the truck.

Unhappy

Hello,
Please also let me know if any one can get to courtesy light bulb from 2002 LX 470 running board. I was not able to locate the light bulb, i checked the underneath of the running board and saw only downward lens, i removed it but no trace of where the bulb located. It was just a pipe that light stream to. No light bulb housing were found. Please kindly help if you know how to replace the light bulb.

I went to dealer the other day to have 2001 LX470 serviced. I told him the rear courtesy running board light was out and need the bulb replaced. He told me there was no bulb and the entire module needed to be replaced. Part #81380-60030. Estimated cost $500. I had previously been on the site and knew there was a bulb. So came home and pulled the module apart and found bulb. Ordered 4 Bulbrite 715210 - 10 Watt - T3 G4 Base - Halogen/Xenon - Clear 100 Lumens - 12 Volt bulbs from 1000Bulbs.com. Was pretty easy to get the module out, but did need to remove running board. Total of about 4 brackets and 16 bolts. Not all the way off, but enough to access the end portion. Took about 30 minutes to take-off and 10 minutes to put back on. Waiting for bulbs to arrive and will replace all 4. Got some pictures of what the module looks like after you open it and the bulb is visible. Will respond once job is totally done. Please don't let the deler put it to you. This is so easy and requires less than an hour of time.

Bulbs are $1.95 each. Shipping is around $10 per order, so order 4 and replace them all at once.
