Default Got bored, took my cross-bars off

YEAH, SO I FELT LIKE DOING SOMETHING. TOOK MY CROSS-BARS OFF MY ROOFRACK, TOOK ABOUT 25MINS. NOTICED A SLIGHT DORP IN WIND NOISE AND INCREASED HIGHWAY ACCELERATION. ADDED AT LEAST 15HP...NOW MY TRUCK GOES SO FAST OMG You guys HAVE GOT TO DO THIS MOD...IT ADDS MORE POWER THAN ANY SUPERCHARGER OR TURBO SYSTEM!

WOW!

ok, so i was joking but yeah, i did notice a slight drop in wind noise...plus i guess it lowered my center of gravity a pubic hair. Since i never used them in the past 6.5 years, i took them off. I do use the side rails when im washing my car or when i have SWAT officers on my running boards on an assault. Not really, just kidding.

I wonder, if i were to put a spoiler on now, if i would get increased downforce in the rear, as the cross-bars arent messing up the airflow.

HAHAHA - if you're over 18, check out the top ten when you search for "Toyota P/N 75557-60010" on yahoo.

It's like the magic number or something!

what's all involved in removing the cross bars? I hate the wind noise.

take a flathead screw driver, pop the 4 end covers off on each corner. Then take a Torex T30 or T40 i forget which, and unbolt the 8 bolts holding the roof rack on. Then take a smaller torex bit and take the screws out that are holding the ends to the siderails. Then unscrew the crossbars take them off and reverse engineer yourself to put them back on. Takes 20mins...not even if your good like that.

Us RX300 owners are also doing the same thing. It is a great modification.

I wonder what the diff is between off and moved all the way to the rear. Loud, were yours both pushed all the way back before you took them off?

no, one all the way foward one all the way back. I used to have em both to the rear but...never noticed a difference, so to keep things looking nicer i put em on both ends.

Either way, when you have those cross-bars on they cause wind resistance and cause wind-noise anywhere you put them. I like my truck w/ them off now, very happy!
