2006 LX Tire Pressure Monitor
Does anyone know that the tire pressure monitor may mulfunction (the lamp comes on even though the pressure is OK) when the outside temperature suddenly drops. This is what a dealer told me today. Does it make any sense? Thanks

I think there might have been a communication failure.
The tire monitor system will not malfunction due to cold temperatures. The tire will lose pressure as temperatures go down. If tires lose enough to drop below the 26 PSI threshold then the light will come on. Some dealers may tell you that this is normal and it is. However it is not normal if your tire pressures are above 26 PSI irregardless of outside temperature.

I just pickup the truck from the dealer, who said that there was nothing wrong with the tires and all they had to do was to reset the monitor. The dealer claims that the low pressure flag was triggered by rapidly falling ambient temperature. This seems to be the case.

I'm thinking '06 is the first year? Your spare may be low while the other tires are fine.
This is one of those features on new cars I deem useless, as I calculate my fuel economy on each tank in a log book (noting any anomalies). Unfortunately, the NHTSA might require the sensors on all new cars by around 2011.
