I have a 97 LX450. Every once in awhile in the mornings the starter does not engage. when you turn the key there is power to the radio, ac/heat etc, but the starter nevers turns. you can wait a few minutes, try it again and it starts fine. any ideas?

Starter contacts are going bad. Replace starter contacts and plunger ($40 parts). The dealer won't replace the contacts, only the entire starter unit ($300-500). It's not worth their time.

thanks. i put a "rebuilt" starter on almost a year ago. maybe its still under warranty.

I had the same problem, it will get worse as time goes by. The starter contacts seem to be a common problem with our trucks, although an inexpensive one luckily.
