Default OEM Chrome Wheel Vendors

Anyone bought from California Chrome or LA Wheel & Tire? Which one is better? They seem to be have a lot of listing on Ebay.

Anyone know any vendors in IL?

Check my posting on chroming in the thread on 06 LX wheels. I was thinking about cal chrome before, but think I'm thinking of going w/ classic components (will first give PCA Industries a call to see what the difference in their process is). Cal Chrome seems to do a standard 3-coat plate while classic components does 3 coats of nickel instead of the normal one.

BTW, the title of this thread is the same "line" the platers use. They are really not OEM chromed wheels but should be chromed OEM wheels. The former implies it was chromed in Japan while the latter implies it was a non-chromed wheel that was later chromed. None of the OEM wheels I've found on the websites are chromed in Japan.

Yeah, I remember you and I talking about this in another thread, Jim.

03LX470, chromed OEM wheels, from what I understand, are hard to find even through the local Lexus dealer. Our local dealer here in Austin, as with most others I have encountered, have their own vendors who basically just sell them OEM chromed Lexus wheels and then upcharge the customer. (nice middleman sales, huh?)

If you find a dealer that can get chromed-in-Japan OEM wheels, please let us know. I imagine one could order them from any toyota dealer in japan (for the landcruiser cygnus, as they don't sell the LX there), but I'm sure it would cost $$$$.

How much did the chroming cost ? and any rubbing with the 18" ? Any pics to show-off LS430 wheels on an LS400 ?

I have an LS400 and just recently put on AM chromed wheels. Looks good, but I am having second thoughts... The best set of wheels on an LS4 I've ever seen was one put on by Leeladisky (?). It was such a sweeeeeeeeet looking rim.... I understand its no longer in production

Since this is the LX470 forum I'll just link you to an older thread w pics so this one can keep topic on the LX https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=170064

The OEM wheels being discussed here are sold already chromed by the vendors mentioned. You don't send anything in.

FWIW, I just got my spare wheel chromed. I had my local dealer (Tucson) do it. I noticed many of the LS/LX's around town have chromed wheels (there are only 2 dealers in town, both under the same name/ownership), so I asked the SM at the dealer. They contract out to a plating shop in Phoenix, which comes to pickup and dropoff wheels weekly. This saves on shipping charges (otherwise, I would have had to have the tire unmounted, package the wheel, mail it off to LA, remount the tire, rebalance, etc.) At the dealer, they charged me $238 out the door! Work looks top rate, nice thick layer (copper underneath) so that you can barely see the emblem of the OEM wheel maker. I also bought 4 OEM wheel center caps w/ emblem, had them chromed ($20 ea for chroming) at classic components in So. CA.

So for those of you looking to chrome your wheels, I thought the price was pretty reasonable considering it included the shipping, tire unmounting/mounting, and balancing. You also get your own wheels back, not someone else's.

Try this. May be a little pricey. Not sure what everyone really wants. But, I have dealt with these guys a number of times.

Those wheels aren't even OEM, they're copies!
