Default Got a qoute on painting the lower trim to match...

Will be a bit. We have two problems, one a piece of trim is damaged, and there is about a inch of rust on the passenger rear door. Its a line, about a inch long, where the trim meets the door. So, including fixing that, and fixing a crack in the rear bumper....

$2500.

That is removing every piece of trim on the car, spraying it black, installing. Its tons of pieces!

Will not be doing it today. Or Tomorrow. But soon enough I am sure. It was good to finally get a decent estimate from a main stream, respected body shop. Then the question is, to fix the windows or not.

Has there ever been a black interior in a domestic LX?

$2-2.5K for all the trim and bumpers is fair. It cost me about $700 for front and rear bumpers (they charged me the price to repaint OEM bumpers eventhough it was the ARB and Kaymar), and that was w/o installation. I have the pearl paint, which is more expensive, as there's a midcoat on the base coat whereby the more layers you apply, the darker the paint gets. So one needs to spray paint cards, one w/ 1 coast, another w/ 2 coats, etc. and pick the best match.

It does seem pretty fair considering it will not be a fun time to take off and reinstall all the componets. You have made a great reminding point, often bumpers do not come out the same color as the car, this can be true on many factory paint jobs. The good news is they do warranty their work for the time of our ownership. So on your bumpers, they just charged a book rate of 700, and I am looking to get 20 or so other small pieces installed and painted, seems pretty fair. I want to take it to a place I can trust. Maybe May or so. Tomorrow, I will need to be w/out the truck for a few days.

The interior is certainly nice. Its like a captai chair, so much room, but darn it. I would not change it anyway, it would cost way to much and be less expensive to just sell the Black one and get a white one. Oh well. That answers that question!
