Default When did you realize how nice your LX was?

Perhaps a stupid thread, but I thought I'd ask. When we were looking at the LX and test driving them and what not, it seemed like a nice car all around. There was nothing that struck me as annoying or sub par and when we took delivery I was so pleased.

A couple of weeks ago we went back east for a wedding and had a V8 toyo 4runner as a rental. What an eye opener!!!!

Before that I never noticed 'road noise'. When people talked about how quiet there LX's were I just thought they were way more discerning customers than I was. Boy was i wrong! The 4runner is a fine vehicle but I just couldn't believe how inferior it felt. After 2+ hours driving from orlando to miami, I was so happy with our decision to get that LX. When you're driving a 4runner, which is a great vehicle in its own right, and all you can think about is how much of a piece of crap it is compared to your truck, it makes that price tag sting A LOT less.

just curious if you guys all knew what you were getting from the jump, or if there was a specific moment that made you stand back and say 'damn, what a truck'?

yeah... our lx is da bomb..... lol

yeah, when i turned 17 and got my license my dad was to get me a brand new porsche 911. but i am big and huge in size and it just doesn't fit me. and the room is small so I was in the market for an suv. It was btwn a LX and Escalade, and it wasn't that hard to decide.

you made a good choice of buying a lexus instead of an toyota.

O wow! Lucky you!!

I have 4runner and I agree that it's a POS compare to LX. But it's a nice off road car and don't really have to worry about the damage.

Lucky you x2. Wow, i had to decide between taking the bus or Chevy Sprint (1.0L 3-cylinder no-power-anything tin can) to college. It must be nice to have a choice like that. It's strange because most people in YOUR shoes would pick Range Rover since it's more stylish (aka bling bling, not as much as Escalade but more elegant).

lol.... i really liked the style of rr but not its reliability. srry, but i would rather drive a car thats reliable rather than for its look.
and escalade had a pretty good review when compare to rr...

I went for the Lambo Diablo and then dad got me the LX for the times I need to haul all the cash to the bank.

Ditto here. I drive a 21 yr old 4runner w/ 200K mi as my DD, as I work in a part of town where people drive beaters and don't have car insurance. It gives me great piece of mind that my rig is an old beater itself plus has full body armor, so if it gets crashed, no biggie. Meanwhile, the LX sits in the garage during weekdays. It's my road-trip/weekend rec car only. LX is also armored...first thing I did was to replace the front & rear bumpers w/ plate steel bumpers.

There is no comparison between the two, but since they are so different, I don't even try to compare. The old 4runner has a header and performance catback, so it's loud, has a stiff offroad suspension, lift (a tad higher visibility than the LX). Next car will be a FJ cruiser 6spd manual. Will armor it to the hilt, also.

Liar. We all know that was a re-badged Countach.

lololololololololololololol

ok b4 this thread gets locked. I realized how nice the LX was when we got it new in feb '00. It was bought to replace our 1996 Toyota 4Runner Limited. We kept both for almost a year then gave it to family.
