2000 LX470 "thump" sound when braking
When I brake to a full or near stop in either forward or reverse I hear a "thump" or a deep "click" sound from the front end. Same sound whether I break in gear or neutral. Same sound no matter what the height adjustment or shock adjustment is set to. Sound does not occur with every braking, but almost. Also appears to occur more often, and possibly louder, when braking in forward. Have carefully gone through the brakes and inspected the front end (struts, shocks, etc) to no avail. One front brake pad does have slightly more more wear than the other. Can't figure out where the noise is coming from.

I just changed my brake pads and had the rotors shaved, I took this turn like I was driving in Le Mans and it felt like the cars front drivetrain disengaged while I was braking, I know thats not the case but it felt and sounded like that. Now I hear a little thump often, braking is fine, just makes a grrrr.... or thump sound.
Kinda like yours, freaks me out...
I still don't know what it is!!!

Sure it's not the infamous rear driveshaft clunk? Put ~6 pumps of MP grease into the zerks of the rear driveshaft and see if it stops. Don't overfill the middle zerk since the driveshaft is designed to compress when the rear suspension compresses. If you overfill the U-joint zerks, it just pushes the old grease out...no biggie.
