Default Strange noise has me concerned

I recently inherited a '99 LX470 and have had to replace a starter. Got a full service at 120K miles and all the major systems checked out. That said...

Just recently the car has a very noticeable whining sound when I accelerate at both high and low speeds. When coming to a stop the noise is heard just before coming to a stop. It's not an abrupt whine, but rather one that peaks and then wanes. It doesn't show up when turning and the car is driving fine.

Any clue what it could be? I have no idea what the maintenance history is on it so no way to know what has/hasn't been replaced. I may be forced to sell the darn thing!!

Welcome and quit whining . Noises are hard to figureout on the internet. Take it to the dealer and ride with the tech and point out the sound you are concerned about and let him check it out.

Sounds like a differential/transfer case. When's the last time you changed the fluids in your diffs/transfer case/transmission?

Sounds like a bad bearing or something. I would doubt it would be the front diff. If it were, you'd steadily here it increase with speed. T-case/tranny could be a possibility. Have the dealer check it out.
