I am not familiar with the LX 470 2002 models? Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of buying one of these. I currently own a Rover and looking to find if these are up for the draw with the rovers durability and workmanship. I love my rover and would love to get a new one but the cost is high so, i am looking for an 02 LX 470 since most people say this is comparable to the rover disco. Any input would be greatly helpful.. and what are the prices ranging from.. and what do I look to pay for one of these suckers'... and of course how does it handle off road, and towing..?

If you can stretch your budget, go with the '03 model. You'll get the last major revision done to the 98-07 model LX470. There are minor upgrades and tweaks for the 04-07 years, but the '03 is the most comprehensive. Also, check out www.lcpo.com and look under "model library" for the LX. You can easily compare the '02 and '03 models at that website. You should also use the "search" feature here at ClubLexus for old posts covering your same questions.

The '02 is a great purchase, in my opinion.

It was the last of 98-02 product, and has all the bugs worked out. The '03 is the first of the 03-08 product, and have had electronic issues.

The 02 will have the 4 speed tranny vs. 5, the older interior dash, 16" wheels vs. 18"s, and no Bluetooth.

However, the price difference between an 02 and 03 remains about 8K-10K.

So you have to decide if those features are worth the 6K-8K premium.

check out http://ih8mud.com in the 100 series section if you're looking to find out more about the performance and modability of these trucks too. I think you will find the LX470 to be more reliable and built every bit as well, and as capable as the RR.
