engine move upon brake release
I'm a newby to this forum with a 97 lx450 with 57k. just purchased and enjoy it very much. One problem I noticed
with the new veh., when I release the brakes at a complete stop,
the engine or transmition move like it is loose. If the veh. is not
at a complete stop, this does not happen. I'm not sure if its my
trans. mount or motor mount. It feels like a clunk after the
brakes are released at a complete stop. Any input or advice
on getting this fixed is greatly appreciated. thank you.

hmmmm.....
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, i know just about everything on the LX450.....I've spent countless hours researching. Give me a better idea of the problem and I'll try to help you as best as I can or point you in the right direction.
Welcome to CLUBLEXUS!
I would love to hear about your ride, tell me what's up!

attempt to details on problem
Francis,
thanks for the warm welcome. my LX450 is also black.
Got a lot to learn and read up about the LX450
I will attempt to detail out my problem. when the car is
in motion it drives great, reverse/forward. When I'm
at a complete stop (stop light), let the brakes go to press on the
gas pedal; I than feel a jerk in the engine, like the
engine is not tightly mounted to the body.
once I give it gas it drives fine. It also feels
like the engine engaging when doing a gear shift.
If I let the veh. roll and
slowly apply the brakes to a complete stop, the
engine does not jerk when I release the brakes to
press the gas pedal. Could it be my
brakes. I do not hear or have any braking problems
when applying the brakes. Thank for taking the time
to reply.

hmm....
I've never really ever looked for anything like that on ym LX..
Maybe your just feeling the huge gap between the HP and the Torque, I can definitely feel that when I push the gas, I can feel the torque like making my car jump almost and the HP making it struggle to pick up.
I'll test some things out and ask around and I'll get back to you soon.........
hey, got any mods planned?!

Thanks for your quick reply.
All stock so far. Not sure about mods
just yet. Got
a couple of maint. questions. I did not find
on previous posts of forum. What is
the best method to ask you for advise.
should I post them or sent you an e-mail.

newbie here
I am new to this forum as I have just purchased a '97 LX450. It's silver and in great condition so far. I've only had it a few weeks. I too notice that when I am breaking I have a similar scenario. When I am almost to a complete stop and when I take my foot off the break, I feel some kind of movement. I don't know if it's coming from the breaks or the motor mounts could be a possibility. The whole car seems to kind of jerk a little. Hard to describe.
Since I bought it used I didn't get a user manual. Could someone explain what the "power" and "2nd" button do? when/how are they to be used?
Thanks for any info/advice.

hey.....
Welcome to the club! It's nice to see were finally getting some LX450 owners. Anything you guys need or want to know, just post it and I'll help all I can. I spent so much time researching our ride........it might as well go for somthing. \
Alright, the "PWR" button keeps the shifts higher when accelerating therfore supposedly making your car faster. Try it out, push the button while your at a light or somthing, for most Lexus it does nothing but with our cars low HP and high Torque you can really feel a difference.
The "2nd" button.......that's a good question. it's supposed to be for a "second start" whatever that means. Remember...our rides were made for off-roading initially, maybe it has somthing to do with that. Well either way I'll look at my owners manual again, the last time I did I was not as expierenced as I am now, maybe I'll understand it this time.
About the brake release, jerk thing. I'm going to try that at a light but I don't think it's anything substantial.
I'll get back to you guys....

thanks
Francis,
Thanks for your reply. I'll try the PWR button. I presume it also means that it decreases your gas mileage??
I really appreciate your checking things out. I have a mechanic friend that is going to put one of those clear bras (or whatever the politically correct term is) on the front for me. He drove it home tonight, so I asked him to check the braking feeling/jerk too.
I love the car though - it's such a smooth ride and handles so much better than I would have imagined. I drove a 4Runner prior and it's great to have a little more luxury :-)

hey people, with the power button activated your car's tachometer rev's higher before switching gears, where you have the most horsepower. It does cause more strain on the engine, but hey its a Lexus!! The second start is if you are in the snow, it doesn't have as much power as starting from first, better for traction. Good Luck!!
