I have a 2004 Lexus LX470. What is the latest update for the navigation? I think this would be a Generation 4 only DVD. I see some Generation 3 Ver. 7.1 for sale on Ebay but I don't think it will work with my truck.
Thanks

Didn't I answer this for you about 25 threads down?
You have a 2004 LX which uses the Generation 4 DVD based navigation system. You purchase disc updates based on your vehicle's navigation generation. Every year you look to see what the latest update is for the GEN 4 system. Right now the latest version is v7.1, next year it will be v8.1, the year after that it will be 9.1, etc. You will never vary, however, from using GEN4 discs. (don't buy disc updates every year, you're wasting your money and even Lexus says that it is not necessary)
You cannot install GEN3 in your LX. Here's the link to our CL sponsor, www.Lexus-parts.com (Sewell Lexus) where you can get the best deal on the disc.

In the cell where it says "size" you'll select GEN4 from the drop down menu. Enter in that nice promo code and you're set. It's really that easy.

If you haven't updated since '04, you may find quite a few changes. If you can hang on to your current disc for another 8 months, you'll be able to purchase the v8.1 next fall.
BTW, do NOT buy those low-cost navigation discs on eBay. I bought one for $89 and the stupid disc didn't work properly. It installed and updated firmware, but failed to let me enter addresses from the destination screen. The seller sent me another disc and it too had problems. My NAV system wouldn't read the disc right. Through quite a few emails with the seller, he did refund my money and I sent him his "non-oem discs" back. By the way, non-oem simply means "bootleg."
Lesson learned for trying to save money. Now, my GS430 has no disc in it as I cannot reinstall v2.1 (the system doesn't work that way) and I'll be placing my order with Lexus-Parts.com in the next few weeks to get the legit disc.
