I had a "99 LX and had the dealer put stock chromed 18" wheels on a couple years back and had 295/60/18 Toyos on them and I loved it. I do not offroad so I never had the occasion to rub the underside of the wheelwell. They did not get outside the fender at all but gave the truck a great rugged look.

'04 LX470
I'm using 285/60-18 on the factory 18" rim, and they are perfect... looks better, more grip... better braking, etc. Been using them for 3 yrs, and about 70k miles... no prob.
I've also been using 2" wheel spacers on all 4 hubs, and it brings the wheel/tires out just a hair past the fenders. Looks great! Handling is noticeably better... It's hard to describe, but the truck feels much more stable, and I've been using them for over 80k miles... no problems~

Brett, couldn't figure out how to PM but was curious about your upgrade since I was thinking of doing the same for my 04 lx.
1. did you have any issues putting on 305 given the stock were 285/50?
2. can you post pics or send me some sspolise@neoucom.edu, thanks buddy. this is huge because i can't find pics online and have a hard time imagining what they'd look like.
3. what did you do with the old rims/tires?
4. any other modifications to make the larger tires work?
thanks again, trying to make the leap but just haven't found enough info.

I'm runnning 285/75/16s on my land cruiser. They fit nicely. A buddy of mine tried the 305/70/16s and had some rubbing on the front. Checkout www.ih8mud.com to see a number of 100 series LX and Land cruisers.
