License Plate Bulb Replacement
Does anyone know how to remove the cover to replace the license plate bulb on a 1998 LX470? I looked and couldn't tell how to remove the clear plastic cover. I didn't see any visible screws and didn't want to start prying off the cover if that is not the proper way to remove it.
When I finally get the cover off, I am thinking of replacing the standard halogen bulbs with new LED bulbs. Has any done this before?

The holder for the license plate bulb is actually clipped into place. get a flat head screw driver and cover it with a piece of cloth or tape so you dont scratch up the car. then gently slide it into the left side (im pretty sure it is left) and push in towards the right (if the clip is on the right side, then you would push left). as your pushing, apply a gentle downward force and the holder should fall out. then unscrew the bulb socket. the bulb replacement size is 194.
as for the LEDs, i have replaced mine with 194 5-Leds from velocity leds. the 5-led design works good, but for the brightest light, i would go for a forward facing led, such as a high powered 1-watt. It looks very nice and gives the car an updated look. good luck!
