I think that the 450 looks better than the 470, and the 470 looks better than the 570
Really, as far as my preferences go, I'd keep the overall 450 shape, modernized it. Upgraded the mechanics to the today's standards etc. I really have to admit I like what Porsche does to their vehicles. It amounts for a lot, having the guts and taste to keep and improve your image. I have to admit Toyota does not do it, imho. I've had Toyotas for the last 25 years or so, and it is my preferred auto manufacturer. But I am beginning to have second thoughts, mostly based on the direction they are taking not much else.

I once thought that Toyota should make everyday cars that are more exciting, but then I realized the sheer number of cars they are selling. A good example is the Chrysler 300. It was a hot number when it came out, but its pretty played out now. The Corolla, on the other hand, sold in far greater numbers but it is so anonymous looking that it never caused a reaction of distaste... just mild indifference. But people keep buying them. The new Corolla is updated but I don't think it is any more or less bland than the last version.
Back on topic, the new LX570 is pretty bland.... but should Toyota choose to maintain a ten year model cycle like the last LX then it might weather it OK. You would have a hard time saying that of many other SUVs out there.

I think the Mercedes G, RangeRover, Porsche are examples that weathered it even better. And did it staying true to the initial ideal. I think I prefer that. Again, it is just personal taste.

Am I reading that page right that says the '08 LX gets 12-18 mpg? Guess we'll be hanging on to our '03 for a long time. Too bad they couldn't improve the mpg to something more tolerable, say 17-20mpg.

Remember, the fuel economy rating was changed in 2007 to be more consistent with REAL world mpgs. Your 2003 LX revised fuel economy is 12 city / 16 hwy / 13 combined. So, considering that the '08 LX570 has a million and one more horsepower and torque, 12 /18 ain't bad at all! Lexus may be able to break into the 20's mpgs (highway) if they add the 8-speed auto tranny with it's multiple overdrive gears...assuming that the 8-speed is strong enough for SUV duty. It is pretty hard to get 17 mpg in city for such a big SUV with a big *** engine.
