Default WTK: Does Lexus have Chrome Center Caps for LX470 2007 year

Does Lexus have Chrome Center Caps with logo for 2007 LX470 18" Rims.
The dealership in Colorado that sold the car originally put chrome wheels
and caps on car. Caps have no logo and appear to be metal. Wheels are
factory original so must have had a local company there do the rechroming.
Can you apply chrome type finish to the standard plastic factory caps.

thanks

Yes, you can chrome plastic. It's not the same process as chroming metal but the end product looks the same.

You can but to much of a hassel. There was a big lawsuit with lexus and the aftermarket chroming company. They were mad that the company was using the Lexus "L" on their center caps that they would make for the rims that they chromed. Which is stupid that Lexus would get mad over something so stupid since it is being used to spiff up their own product for the car that they are selling.
What i would do, i work for lexus, i would go and get the Chrome "LX" center cap emblems, they look sweet when you put them on. They make them for any car. If you can get them let me know and i'll see how much i can get them for you. Seen a bunch with the "IS" on the IS's wheels.

Not that I know of. My '03 came the same way. The dealer sends the wheels to a plater to have them chromed, but since Lexus doesn't sell chromed logo caps, the dealer stuck '98-02 16" aftermarket chromed wheel caps on there (flat face, no logo). I ended up buying four genuine lexus '03-06 wheel caps (gray) and had them chromed at a plating shop in So. CA, cost around $90 shipped. I also had my spare wheel chromed so I can run a 5-tire rotation. My dealer had that done for me, about $240 including tire mounting/unmounting (cheaper than had I sent it to the plater myself!). Downside was I had to go w/o a spare for a month. The wheel caps are the same for '03-06 ('07 uses the same wheels as '06, so it should also fit '07), while the '98-02 caps are the same. The '98 caps will also fit on a '06, but the design is different. I think I have a photo of both caps at home that I'll try to find.

Chrome plating is environmentally nasty involving using solutions of heavy metals...copper, nickel, chromium. Anyways, here's a pic of my chromed OEM '03-07 caps (originally gray with a chromed "L") compared to the no-emblem generic chrome '98-'02 cap that came with the vehicle.

The lawsuit Lexus initiated is a touchy subject. Aftermarket companies try to mimic the qualities of Lexus as their own without paying the standard royalties involved with being licensed products using their brand name, Lexus. It is to the benefit of Lexus protect the integrity of their brand name.

Chrome plating is an utterly nasty process thus the reason many US states don't allow it. Most of the manufacturers both standard and domestic have adopted "painting" process to achieve the chrome wheel. All true OEM Lexus chrome wheels are painted, not plated. There is just a handful of Lexus dealerships who have adopted this new process for our current trend of going green.

The caps you are referring to are available.

Do you actually work for Lexus or just a dealership?
