Default Lexus LX450...

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the 96-97' LX450 model years ever came with a black leather interior option? I've yet to come across one on various auto classified. Additionally I heard the Toyota Landcrusier is very similar if not practically the same car with the branded Lexus logo. If so, are there any notable differences, known issues or quirks about the LX450 before I jump into buying one?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Never came with black interior. Yes, Land Cruiser is very similar. Exact same drivetrain, several cosmetic and minor interior differences.

My memory is fading, it was 10+ years back. But there is no difference between the LandCruiser and LX450, both are TLC100 cosmetically dressed differently for the North American market. Well, same for the next generation for that matter.

For the quirks... just slighly heavier steering and a bit stiffer ride. More transitional steering on the bumpy surface. Arguably better off-road. A bit less space inside. A bit weaker engine but still nice.

Big difference b/w LX and TLC is the suspension tuning. I believe that the LX suspension was softer (more lean, but more comfy).

Beyond above quirks, both LX450 and TLC drank a lot of gas! It is a big 6-cyl engine and it is pulling a heavy weight...so, fuel economy is not its strong point. I also read that both have a "drone" on the highway.

I have both. The Lexus is the exact same as my 1997 Land Cruiser, except lots of body trim and minor exterior styling that makes a HUGE difference, different leather (lexus leather gets MUCH more worn / brittle), wood trim is nicer on the lexus, suspension softening, cd changer location, LX has sub in center console, different wheels, etc.

Neither were availale with black leather. The Lexus version actually goes cheaper than most Land Cruisers because the Land Cruiser has the name.

Differential lock is a rare option on both, and highly desired. My LX has it, my Land Cruiser does not.

The LX450 is for sale, its black on tan leather, high miles, but cheapp
