New LX450 Owner - Wheel Cap & Trim Questions...
I'm about to pick up a 1-owner, 1997 LX450 in amazing condition other than a few minor items. Any suggestions on the below would be greatly appreciated!
- Wheel caps need to be replaced --- Any good sources other than the dealer?
- This one has the gold package...which has to go. Are the badges easy to swap out/install and any recommended sources for these as well?
- I've noticed most older (10+ year) Lexuses and Toyotas get a bit of a funky smell inside...I think it's the leather. I can't stand air fresheners, but perhaps someone out there has a recommendation on this one as well.
Much appreciated!

I've been looking at some used LX470's as well, and found chrome oem emblems/badges on ebay. They seem easy enough to swap and install from what I've read. Not sure about the wheel caps though.

If the caps are still there, they can be refinished/repainted for cheap. I think there is a duplicolor paint color that is a pretty good match.
As for funky smell... it's likely embedded in the carpet/headliner. Of course replacement would be the sure way to do it but cheaper alternatives you can try:
Enzymatic Cleaners, often used for pet odors/stains
Negative ion generator (industrial strength), often used to get rid of smoke/fire odors
Cheap ways to mask the odor would be to throw some soap bars under the seats or a permeable bag of coffee beans!

that funky smell is probably your interior cabin air filters (they themselves dont stink, but they allow stinky stuff to get into the cabin if they're not nice and new). get those replaced, get a good interior detail done (steam the carpets mats and headliner) and use some of those arm and hammer baking soda boxes with the mesh vents, and last but not least, use Febreze auto. works just like the household stuff but has a more automotive scent, like new car but not so unoriginal. stuff smells real good and fresh and u dont have a silly tree hangin from your premium suv rear view mirror.
the badges can be removed using dental floss, just slide some floss between the paint and the badge and pry away. new badges can be purchased on ebay. as well as new center caps. i recommend gettin new wheels all together, never was a big fan of the lx450 wheels, but thats just my opinion
