Default LX470 won't start

I tried starting my LX470 this morning and all I got was the lights on the dashboard flashing while I hear a rapid clicking sound, then the horn beeps once. The car won't start.

I turned the key to ACC, the dashboard lights all look normal and the radio comes on fine.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Just a guess, but you probably need a new starter, how many miles does your car have? And if you go to the lexus dealership to get this taken care of, it will cost anywhere from 800-1200 dollars

It's a 1999 with 111,000 miles on it. Yeah, sound like a starter problem. I have read that sometimes the contacts on the starter gets corroded or worn out. Hope that is the problem.

Ya, that sounds about right for the year or mileage, i'd definitely put my money on the started, if you do get it fixed or replaced, could you tell me how much you paid? And by the way, welcome to club lexus, with only 2 posts, but a member since 2004, i don't know whether you new or not haha

Thanks for the welcome. I'm definitely not new. I do read the forums from time to time, but the LX470 has treated me so well, that I never had to post a thread before. I will submit a post for the cost to repair. I think I will try to bring it into a Toyota dealership for repair. Might be a little cheaper.

Update. Called the service department at Lexus and told them my problem. He said that it was most likely the battery. He was right Went to Sears and got a new battery. All set!
