Default Should I buy this LX470?

I am looking at purchasing a white 2002 LX470 with 95,000 miles. I noticed 4 things as I tested it out. First of all, it doesn't shift near as smooth as my '98 LS400. It shifts harder with a "little" bump. The "D" is burned out in the dash. Some of the clear coat is peeling off the top of the front bumper (about 1 square inch area). Lastly, the strip lights that are supposed to come on in the passenger side footboard are burned out.

Should I run or not? Cost to fix?

Thanks, Gary

few months back i was looking at a 02 lx 470 with 87,000 miles. dealer's (newton, ma) asking price was 19,000. i offered him 15k at first and he told me he can take to the auction at sell it lot more. i told him that was my price and walked out. couple of days later he called me back and ask me if i was willing to go little higher. when i went back and test drove it second time with my wife. while we were on the road, car stoped on middle of 6 lane highway.......rest is history.

i feel asking price for ur truck is too high, esp considering all the things that you have listed. it might be a good idea for you to keep looking. its going to cost you $$$$$ to bring it back to your satisfaction. keep looking at ebay, craigslist, autotrader, carmax and lexus dealers close to your home.

i bought mine at watertown lexus in MA ( not trying to promote them in any way). their pricing lot less than some lexus dealers (with bigger well known names) here in MA.

good luck in your search and keep in touch.

Sounds like the LX has seen much better days. I think you can find something much better.

I've always noticed a bump in my 2000,but may be tranny mount have it checked, mine are fine. The D on the dash in my LX has never worked (think thats just the way it is). Paint has probably been subject to snow/ice. Can get them repainted for about 150-200 bucks. Replacing lights are easy, get the dealer to do it. Price isn't too bad, but I would still low ball the heck out of them. I'm sure not many vehicles are selling right now.

I passed on this one. This is the only one with a funny acting transmission plus the guy "lied" about the 90K.
