Default Q | "L" Low Speed Position

How fast can you go or should you go at the "L". With Center differential Unlocked/Locked.

Is there a Limit? Will it damage any part of the car if drving over 60KM. in "L" ?

Please advice.

Q2) Do I need to turn on any function if driving on snowy conditions?

I have commonly driven up to that speed in LO... but if you need to sustain that speed, I'd switch to HI. In LO, the T-case gear is turning over 2 times faster so it will heat up more.

I would "think" that if you can sustain 60km/h, you should be able to do it in HI.

LO if I am not mistaken blocks the center differential. This, and the excessive engine speed, high load on the transfer case - all OK for a while, but certainly not most relaxed way to drive. Even off-road. I personally switch back and force as required, but go HI the moment the terrain permits it.

O ic,

Alex, How do you drive in snow? I am here in the Greater Toronto Area.

Any particular modes/gear I should be driving with ?

Any one else have an advice on driving on snow?

My personal preferences driving in snow (often mountain terrain):
- transfer case in HIGH, low only if need to get up very very steep and slow, or excessively deep snow
- Center diff open (very important)
- don't even try to lock the read diff on snow (my previous LX had this option)
- keep the gear selector in 1-2 position in really challenging conditions, otherwise normal D if driving on flat terrain

I got a few dents and scratches while exploring the options and developing this guidelines for myself.

If your vehicle has this newer traction control (ATRAC or whatever is the name) - let it do the job, while the truck in HIGH and open diffs. This maximizes the directional control, which is the main thing on the snowy and mountain roads in this truck. Traction is much less of an issue. But if you find yourself needing more traction - defeat the ATRAC, or switch to LOW.

Do you mean Locked or Un-Locked?
