LX 470 Feels slower and MPG is down...
I have an LX 470 with about 100k on the clock and something is acting funny… It feels like I have to push the engine harder to make the truck run lately. Almost like I am pulling a trailer…. My wife says the MPG is down too…
Running smooth as silk just needs more from the little petal.
Any common things to look for?

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago.....then I changed the air filter. Before I had to press on the gas padel harder to get the truck going. With the new air filter in place, it runs lot better, faster and smoother. Try it and let me know. good luck

Picked one up at NAPA last night I'll see what happens. I hope you are right. The last time I had a car do / feel like this its trans took a crap a few days later.

I would change the spark plugs and do all the flushes (coolant, fuel, and brake). Change the air filter and look into the timing belt. It should correct the problems. Keep us updated!

I think I figured this out; I stepped back and took a look at what changed since I drove the car last and I noticed something. This is my wife’s car and I rarely drive it. On this day the whole family plus my mother in law, the rear jump seats were installed, 2 cases of bottled water, the heavy baby stroller, luggage and tons of other crap were in the truck. With all of this out I figure I took 500 lbs of people, 100 lbs jump seats, 150 lbs strollers and junk out of the truck. I am not sure if it was the weight or an old air filter but it seems to be running better now.
I guess this was a wakeup call for me, I decided to take the truck in for service.
The list:
Change fluids
Front & Rear Dif, Transfer case, Trans flush and service, oil, flush brake fluid and coolant flush.
Timing belt, Water pump, seals ect
Repack front bearings, replace front rotors
This is all stuff I wanted to do myself but I just don’t have the time.

Heck, i've pulled a boat and trailer that weighs in over 3K lbs. and barely feel it. I have also pulled a trailer full of trash to the dump that was 2700 lbs. It will definately affect your MPG as expected.
Best of luck with whatever is possibly ailing your truck. Keep us informed.
